Fri June 17 - Oct 7 Old Forge Farmers Market - Fridays from 1pm - 5pm. NEW LOCATION FOR 2022. Market will be held in the parking lot adjacent to the George Hiltebrant Recreation Center at 201 North Street. Old Forge Farmers Market is a vibrant community market pulling farmers, crafters and artisans from all over upstate NY. The market provide fresh and nutritious food to the Old Forge and surround community while also providing support for our local producers. While the market is primarily food based, we reserve several spots for local and regional artisans to bring great variety, quality and people! A weekly spot is also reserved for a single local non-profit or governmental agencies to promote community resources. Sun June 19 Annual Father’s Day Frog Jumping Contest - On the lakefront at Noon. Children can bring their champion frog to win prizes and fathers should wear their most outrageous tie! Tues June 21 Summer Solstice Celebration Heartbeat of the Earth - 4pm at the Old Forge Library. On the Longest Day of the year the library and its community partners at Weaving Home and Living ADK, & our other regional friends invite us to make a joyful noise. Renowned Abenaki artists, writers and storytellers will make the occasion memorable. All supplies provided to make a gourd rattle. Make your own before the Bruchacs’ program which will culminate in a ceremonial fire and drum circle. The Gourd Rattle Workshop begins at 4pm and is led by Andree Dennis Newton. The Solstice program and drum circle will start at 7pm and be led by Joe & Jim Bruchac. For additional information please call 315-369-6008
Fri - Sun June 24 - 26 17th Annual Vintage Snowmobile National Show - The 17th Annual Vintage Snowmobile Club of America (VSCA) National Championship Show will be held at the George T. Hilterbrant Recreation Center 201 North Street, Old Forge NY, June 24, 25 & 26, 2022. All registered sleds will be under cover. Sun June 26 Pianist David Kim - 4pm at VIEW. Pianist David Kim returns with a program featuring the works of Chopin, among them, some etudes, a ballad, and the Barcarolle, a deeply romantic work that seems to pass through blinding sunlight and serene starlight in exuberant emotion. Works of Liszt, Debussy, or Scriabin will complete the program. Pianist David Kim is originally from central New York, and a lover of the Adirondack region. Kim has performed at the Crouse-Hinds Concert Theater, Steinway Hall, The Fogg Art Museum, and has been concerto soloist with the National Repertory Orchestra, the Syracuse Symphony, Utica Symphony, and the Clinton Symphony Orchestra of the Mohawk Valley.
